While Eliezer is in the camp he sees how cruel people can be towards each other. First it starts with the Nazis being cruel to the prisoners then the prisoners start to turn on each other. Elie doesn't understand how people can be so cruel to each other but after a while of not eating and fearing death/torture he realizes how he too could end up being cruel to people just so he can stay alive. The picture shows an example of inhumanity during the Holocaust. It's unbelievable how terrible people can be to other humans. The people in the picture are just skeletons. It's amazing that they are even alive. I don't know how anyone can be that malnourished and still be able to move. It's sad to know that people can actually treat other people this way.
